Infant Ladybug Dress 2018

This dress was made at the last minute for a baby shower. Actually, it was a shower for my son’s girlfriend, who was due with my 10th grandchild! I had already made a couple small things, and purchased diapers and a few cutesy outfits, but I got this idea in my head, and just ran with it.

After came the booties, which I had found a pattern for on Ravelry. Then it went on to the dress, which was kind of modified from THIS pattern. I left off the picot edging around the neck and edge of sleeves. But basically the yoke is worked in DC and the skirt is worked in V-stitch. Adjusting the number of stitches around allowed it to have a wider drape. This gives it more pleats than the original pattern, but not as many as the altered “pleated” pattern which is also available at the same website.

The hat came next, with the diaper cover following right after. I did not have a pattern for either of them, but have used a pattern in the past for both… I tried to do the patterns from memory, but ended up just winging it on both pieces. Couldn’t remember all the details, and didn’t have time to go looking for those patterns again. I needed to get this outfit done ASAP!! The shower took place only 3 days after I completed the whole ensemble!
